Red Wine Bosque de Matasnos Edición Limitada 2015
Availability: In stock
This Spanish red wine is made from a blend of Tempranillo (95%) and Merlot (5%) coming from more than 60-year-old vines. The plants grow on a plateau located at an altitude of 950 metres above sea level. Climate is harsh, with huge temperature differences between day and night and scarce rain.
Harvested in little boxes and kept cold to preserve their qualities, the grapes were macerated with their skins and fermented in stainless steel tanks.
One-fifth of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels; the rest completed the process in the tanks.
Lightly filtered and clarified, Bosque de Matasnos Edición Limitada 2015 was then aged for 12 months in 90% French and 10% American oak barrels. Finally, it was aged for a further 30 months in the bottle prior to its commercial release.
Decant this red wine from Ribera del Duero a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
A collector's item with a very scarce production, it will improve in the bottle for the next 8-10 years.
The excellent Bosque de Matasnos Edición Limitada was awarded a Gold Medal in the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) 2018.
The Spanish red wine Bosque de Matasnos Edición Limitada has a bright, intense garnet colour with violet tinges and a reddish hue at the rim.
Multilayered and very expressive. This blend of Tempranillo and Merlot from Ribera del Duero exhibits the purest red and black fruit, along with some notes of vanilla custard, fine leather, toasted bread and tobacco leaves. Sweet spices, withered leaves, some mineral undertones and even a hint of black truffles.
Wow! This is some serious wine. The limited edition wine Bosque de Matasnos black label is fruity and yummy, but always keeping a mature, gentlemanly character. Velvety and bold, with well-rounded, unexplosive notes of fruit, combined with notions of liquor, English cream, balsam, eucalyptus, spices and tobacco. Crisp acidity, a subtle mineral background and lively tannins that promise a long life. Very long finish with some lactic notes and fruity remembrances.
