Details

We are proud to present the new vintage of Bosque de Matasnos Edición Limitada. An under-the-radar jewel from Ribera del Duero, it is crafted by the Bosque de Matasnos winery.

This varietal Spanish red wine is made solely from Tempranillo grapes sourced from over 60-year-old vineyards. The vines are planted at an altitude of 950 metres above sea level. Climate is harsh, with huge temperature differences between day and night and scarce rain.

Harvested in little boxes and kept cold to preserve their qualities, the grapes were macerated with their skins and fermented in stainless steel tanks.

Then one-fifth of this reserva red wine underwent malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels, while the rest completed the process in the tanks.

Lightly filtered and clarified, Bosque de Matasnos Edición Limitada 2018 was then aged for 12 months in 90% French and 10% American oak barrels. Finally, it was aged for a further 30 months in the bottle prior to its commercial release.

Decant this red wine from Ribera del Duero a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.

23,500 bottles produced.

Substantial ageing potential.

Appearance

The red wine Bosque de Matasnos Edición Limitada is deep ruby with some violet tinges and a reddish rim.

Nose

Multilayered and very expressive. This varietal Tempranillo exhibits pristine aromas of wild berries and boysenberries, with some notes of vanilla custard, fine leather, toasted bread and tobacco leaves. Sweet spices, withered leaves, some mineral undertones and even a hint of black truffles.

Palate

This wine from Bodega Mosque de Matasnos is velvety and bold, with well-rounded, exquisite flavours of black fruit, combined with notions of liquor, English cream, balsam, eucalyptus, spices and tobacco. Crisp acidity, a subtle mineral background and lively tannins that promise a long life. Very long finish with some lactic notes and fruity remembrances.

Our personal opinion

The remarkable Bosque de Matasnos Edición Limitada 2018 is a first-rate Ribera.

Naturally concentrated, not overextracted. Oak is present, but contributes wonderfully to the flavour. Will live for many years Outstanding.
