Details

This is the new vintage of Botani Moscatel Seco, crafted by Jorge Ordóñez.

Interestingly, this is the first dry Spanish white wine produced from a sweet white grape in the Sierras de Málaga DO. Namely, it is a single varietal Moscatel de Alejandría (Muscat of Alexandria).

The grapes come from old vines of an average age of 70 years planted in the Axarquía region, a remote, almost inacessible area located right in the heart of the Málaga mountains. The plants grow in very poor, decomposed slate soils, and some of them are over 100 years old.

Harvest started in July and lasted until mid October. Meticulously selected and transported to the cellar by mules, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and then aged for 7 months on lees.

Drink Botani Moscatel Seco 2017, by Jorge Ordóñez & Co. over the next 5 years.

We suggest that you drink this white wine from Málaga at a temperature of 6-7ºC in order to preserve its gentle, mildly sweet character.

Additional Information
Additional Information
Appearance

The wine Botani Moscatel Seco has a pale, clean yellow colour with greenish tinges.

Nose

An intense and suggestive Muscat white wine. The floral aromas are more prominent than in previous vintages, and we also find notes of yellow fruit, quince, strawberry tree and white flowers. Botani Moscatel Seco also suggests some herbal remembrances and dim mineral undertones.

Palate

This white wine by Jorge Ordóñez has an unctuous body which, at the same time, is almost weightless. Botani Moscatel from Málaga has a remarkable freshness and an overall citric character, with remembrances of underbrush, minerality, and a pleasant finish with a salty touch

Our personal opinion

Extremely versatile. Botani Moscatel Seco 2017 pairs well with marinated fish -the well-known ceviche- and all kinds of exotic dishes.
