White Wine Botani Moscatel Seco 2018
Availability: In stock
This is the new vintage of Botani Moscatel Seco, also knwon as Botani Moscatel Old Vines, crafted by the prestigious Jorge Ordóñez.
Interestingly, this is the first dry Spanish white wine produced from a sweet white grape in the DO Sierras de Málaga. Namely, it is a varietal Moscatel de Alejandría (Muscat of Alexandria).
The grapes come vines 70-years-old on average planted in the Axarquía region, a remote, almost inacessible area located right in the heart of the Málaga mountains. The plants grow in very poor, decomposed slate soils, and some of them are over 100 years old.
Harvest started in July and lasted until mid October. Meticulously selected and transported to the cellar by mules, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and then aged for 7 months on lees.
Drink Botani Moscatel Seco 2018, by Jorge Ordóñez & Co. over the next 5 years.
We suggest that you drink this white wine from Málaga at a temperature of 6-7ºC in order to preserve its gentle, mildly sweet character.
Appearance | The wine Botani Moscatel Seco has a pale, clean yellow colour with greenish tinges. |
---|---|
Nose | An intense and suggestive Moscatel white wine. The floral aromas are more prominent than in previous vintages, and we also find notes of yellow fruit, quince, strawberry tree and white flowers. There are also suggestions of aromatic herbs, and some dim mineral undertones. |
Palate | This white wine of Jorge Ordóñez has an unctuous body which, at the same time, is almost weightless. Remarkably fresh, with a citrusy character, remembrances of underbrush, minerality, and a pleasant finish with a salty touch |
Our personal opinion | Extremely versatile. Botani Moscatel Seco 2018 pairs well with marinated fish -the well-known ceviche- and all kinds of exotic dishes. |
