Product Description

A bold expression of the Grenache grape, Breca bears the label of the DO Calatayud, Aragón.

This deep Spanish red wine is produced from old grapevines planted between 1925 and 1945 in very poor soils. The plants are located at an altitude of 900 metres above sea level, and they are subject to severe climatic conditions, with great temperature differences between daytime and nighttime.

Manually harvested, the grapes were selected at the vineyard and also in the facilities of the Bodegas Breca, a Jorge Ordóñez company. Then they were fermented and macerated for 12 days in stainless steel tanks and then aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

We strongly suggest that you decant Breca 2017 a minimum of 30 minutes before you drink it.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The red wine Breca has an intense, bright, clean cherry-coloured robe with a ruby rim.

Deep and dramatic, this old-vines Grenache by Jorge Ordóñez begins with some intense notes of ripe black fruit, combined with dim touches of vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa and moka. As it opens, the wine offers notions of violets and some liquorice undertones and deep mineral remembrances.

Meaty, intense and yummy, this red wine by Bodegas Breca coats the palate with velvety notes of blackberries and cranberries, black chocolate and liquor-infused fruit. Great tension and good acidity. This Grenache from Calatayud has some ripe tannins and a long, spicy finish with, again, some earthy and mineral undertones.

Our personal opinion

A rugged delight, Breca 2017 from Calatayud is a vibrant wine from the land believed to be the cradle of Grenache.
