A very interesting Spanish red wine from the region of Montsant, Brunus is produced by the Portal del Montsant winery.
It is made from a complex blend of and 45% Grenache, 38% Carignan and 17% Syrah, Tempranillo and Hairy Grenache. The grapes were sorted from vineyards between 25 and 50 years old.
After a rigorous selection process, the grapes were macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Then Brunus 2018 was transferred into new and 2nd year old French oak barrels, where it was aged for 12 months.
This Crianza red wine will pair excellently with BBQ'd meat.

Nose | Pure and well-defined aromas of blackberries, raspberries and cherries, intertwined with some lactic and spicy aromas and a dim mineral layer with some floral and balsamic nuances. As one might expect, this blend of Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Tempranillo and Hairy Grenache is quite complex. |
Palate | This red wine from Portal del Montsant has a very pleasant and fresh entry onto the palate. It has a nimble passage with very silky tannins and a crisp acidity. The ending of this Crianza red wine is long and satisfying, bringing back aromas of black fruit and a note of ginger, cinnamon and clove. |
