Details

The only Spanish white wine produced by bodega Celler Cesca Vicent, Cabaler is made from a typical Priorat blend of White Grenache and Macabeo.

The grapes come from certified organic grapevines planted in steep slopes with slate and rocky soils in the Mas d'en Corral estate, in the village of Gratallops, in the heart of the DOQ Priorat.

Harvested by hand in late August, a few days before they were fully ripe, the two varieties were vinified together. Destemmed and lightly crushed, the grapes were first macerated with the skins, after which they began to ferment in stainless steel tanks. Then, a portion of this organic white wine was transferred into oak and chestnut oak barrels, where it completed the process with lees stirrings performed on a daily basis. Cabaler 2017 was bottled after a gentle filtration.

Aerate this Priorat white wine some time before drinking.

Only 1,600 bottles produced.

Appearance

The white wine Cabaler has a bright yellow colour with some golden tinges.

Nose

Very expressive, this blend of White Grenache and Macabeo smells of orchard fruit, lemon tart and Mediterranean garrigue. On the background, there is a deep mineral core and a fleck of white flowers and citrus.

Palate

Creamy and well-balanced, with the distinctive personality which characterizes Priorat white wines, this wine of Cesca Vicent is fresh and deeply mineral, with notes of bone fruit, flowers and Med herbs. Long, delicious finish.

Our personal opinion

Hard to get because of its quality and limited production, Cabaler 2017 is an enticing Priorat white wine.

Made my day

I just can't get enough of Priorat white wines. This shows a combination of earthy, slightly metallic minerality and white fruit which I find utterly compelling.
