Product Description
Details

Produced by Celler de Capçanes, famous for its Kosher wines, the wine Cabrida is a small-batch, multi-award-winning Spanish red wine from DO Montsant.

This vegan certified wine is sourced from low-yielding, 60 to 110-year-old Grenache vines planted on granitic and clayey soils at altitudes between 500 and 600 metres.

Meticulously harvested and selected, the grapes completed both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in stainless steel tanks.

After that, the red wine Cabrida 2021 was aged for 12 months in light and medium toasted 3,000-litre French oak vats.

Finally, this red wine from Montsant was transferred into stainless steel tanks to stabilize it for a period of 2 months.

It is important to decant this Crianza red wine at least 1 hour before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Cabrida is pale ruby with some purplish tinges.

Nose

This varietal Grenache is terroir-driven, richly nuanced and beautifully expressive. Exquisite notes of raspberries and Morello cherries, with deep mineral undertones and remembrances of wet earth, resin and Mediterranean garrigue, underscored by aromas of violets, rose water and red pepper. Oak ageing is virtually unnoticeable.

Palate

Halfway between Gredos and Priorat - though interestingly closer to the former than to the latter - this vegan wine from Celler de Capçanes has a thrilling vitality and great freshness, with first-class acidity, stylish tannins and a lovely floral and garrigue-ish remembrance. Finish is very long, with bright red fruit, a chalky hint and a sappy note.

Our personal opinion

The wine Cabrida 2021 is a rare jewel. Definitely a world-class Grenache.

Great Montsant
Value
A deeply classic Mediterranean wine -Gott sei dank. Fortunately, the Capcanes winery has not tried to resemble Burgundy at all costs -truly a modern winemaking plague-and has not been lead astray by all the "natural wine" drivel either. All in all, a juicy and fleshy wine, with depth and, as the French say, mâche.

I would recommend this to the lovers of deep, intense, fruit-forward wines with an earthy twist.
