Details

This is the new vintage of Cachito Mío, a red wine from Toro with an original character.

Thus, instead of searching the traditionally muscular, powerful personality of the Toro wines, this wine by the Casa Maguila was crafted with the main aim of achieving both drinkability and subtlety.

As is common practice in the region, the wine is a single varietal made from Tinta de Toro grapes, which in this case are over 50 years of age.

Harvested by hand and selected twice, the grapes were destemmed and fermented uncrushed.

After that, they were gently pressed and the wine was transferred into American and French oak barrels, where it was aged for about 8 months.

Finally, Cachito Mío 2014 was bottled and aged for a further months in the cellar.

Drink until 2020. Decant 30 minutes before drinking.

Additional Information
Appearance

This Spanish red wine has a nice cherry colour with a violet rim.

Nose

Fresh and intense, showing loads of red and black fruit, nuanced by some wooden notes, aromas of liquorice, Havanna cigars and a background of violets and balsam.

Palate

Cachito Mío is remarkably smooth and certainly lighter than most of the Toro wines we are accustomed to drink. Surprising notes of banana and liquorice, along with lively touches of spices, wild berries and balsam. Good acidity, mild tannins and medium finish with some floral remembrances.

Our personal opinion

Expressive, savoury and gentle. In other words, Cachito Mío 2014.

OAK IS WELL BALANCED HERE, DOES NOT GIVE TOO MUCH VANILLA FLAVOUR, WHICH I HATE. THIS RED DRINKS NICE AND EASY.
