Red Wine Celsus 2019
Crianza red wine Toro. Varietal old-vines Tinta de Toro aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.
Availability: In stock
A bold Spanish red wine from DO Toro, Celsus is produced by Bodegas Vetus, a brand of Grupo Artevins.
This varietal Tinta de Toro wine was crafted from almost centenary vines grown in a single vineyard, Finca Camparrón, composed of sandy loam soils and located at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were carefully destemmed and fermented in 3,000-litre oak vats. After that, this Crianza red wine was transferred into new French oak barrels.
There, Celsus 2019 completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for a period of 14 months. Prior to bottling, it was neither filtered nor clarified.
This elegant red wine from Toro is produced only in exceptional vintages.
Pair with hearty meat recipes.
Decant at least 30 minutes before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Celsus is deep ruby with a garnet rim. |

Nose | This is an impressive Tinta de Toro red wine. Notes of blueberries and mulberries, along with notions of cedar, cardamom, coffee, chocolate, undergrowth and violets over a mineral and earthy background. Impressively complex. |
Palate | Meaty and unctuous, but showing a distinctive freshness. This wine from Bodega Vetus carries some tightly packed fruit will take some time to loosen up. Nevertheless, there is already a real sense of place and an excellent definition. Slightly dry tannins, rock-solid acidity and a long, very persistent finish with notes of cocoa, spices, flowers and ripe black fruit, nuanced by some earthy overtones. |
Our personal opinion | Elegant, age-worthy and powerful, Celsus 2019 will pair excellently with game dishes. |
