Details

The Clos Dominic family winery presents the 2019 vintage of Clos Dominic Blanc, a ridiculously scarce, nearly impossible to find Spanish white wine from Priorat.

A unicorn - the only white wine produced by Clos Dominic - among unicorns - Priorat white wines themselves - it is made from a totally indigenous blend of White Grenache, coming from centenary vineyards, Picapoll and Pedro Ximénez.

Meticulously harvested, this Priorat white wine was fermented in new French oak barrels, in which it also was gently aged for 6 months.

We suggest that you drink Clos Dominic Blanc 2019 at a temperature slightly above the usual white wine serving temperature.

Only 550 bottles produced. That is correct: only five hundred and fifty bottles produced. Thus, this could be your only chance to buy this white wine fermented in oak.

Appearance

The white wine Clos Dominic Blanc has a bright, clean yellow colour.

Nose

First thing we notice is a subdued, intriguing earthiness, Priorat's trademark, nuanced by ever-growing aromas of citrus, peach and flowers. As it opens, Clos Dominic Blanc segues into aromas of spices, aniseed and menthol. Enchanting.

Palate

Complex, layered and with plenty of room for growth, this wine by Clos Dominic has a savory, dense passage through the palate. Neither oversweet nor syrupy, it has an exceptional acidity and a steely backbone. Spices are subdued, and fruit and minerality reign supreme. Precise and focused, with a very long finish and a deeply earthy remembrance.

Our personal opinion

A very rare jewel, Clos Dominic Blanc 2019 proves that Priorat white wines can be as good - perhaps even better - as the red ones.

Astounding white wine. Deeply mineral and self-assured, with a personality that combines a Riesling-like minerality with a Mediterranean splendor.
