Details
This is the flagship wine of the Celler Coca i Fitó, a winery based in Montsant.
It is made from a blend of Syrah and old-vines Samsó (Carignan) and Grenache, ranging from 50 to 70 years of age.
The remarkable complexity of this wine comes from the fact that the vineyards are planted in a rich variety of soils, namely slate, granite, limestone, sand and clay.
All of them grow in poor soils under a Mediterranean climate.
After a traditional vinification, Coca i Fitó 2011 was aged for 14 months in 90% new French oak and 10% American oak barrels.
This wine is bold and expressive, and it requires a prolonged aeration to fully display its qualities.
Decant a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
Drink until 2022.

| Nose | Subtle notes of ripe cherries, blackberries and plums, combined with aromas of liquorice, toast, cedar, menthol and cocoa. On the background, some earthy nuances and a layer of Mediterranean underbrush.

| Palate | Balance is the word here. Round, deep and supple, with a smooth texture and a nice complexity. Pure notions of fruit, hints of flowers and spices and a seductive minerality. Excellent acidity, mild tannins and long finish.
