Red Wine Comalats Cuprum 2018
Organic red wine from Costers del Segre. Varietal Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.

The vines are grown in clayey-limestone soils at an altitude over 700 metres, in the town of L'Ametlla de Segarra. Because of the altitude and the mild climate, the grapes can ripen slowly and steadily. Cool temperatures also protect them from plagues and diseases. Moreover, the Celler Comalats winery follows the guidelines of organic viticulture, and also applies several biodynamic farming techniques.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were first macerated for 7 days and then spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation also happened spontaneously, after which Comalats Cuprum 2018 was transferred into old French and American oak barrels and aged for 12 months. This organic red wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
A very interesting Cabernet from western Catalonia, this red wine from Costers del Segre will pair excellently with cured cheeses and meat pasta recipes.
The red wine Comalats Cuprum has an intense cherry colour with a violet hue.
Like all the wines of Celler Comalats, this varietal Cabernet Sauvignon conveys a sensation of honesty and purity. Blackcurrants and red berries, with hints of tobacco, tea leaves, black pepper and herbs. There is a dim mineral and earthy background.
Round, well-balanced and nuanced, this wine of Celler Comalats is fresh and very savoury, with some ripe tannins and a vibrant acidity. Remembrances of wild berries, spices and toast, with a note of green bell pepper, aromatic herbs and dry earth. Long, complex finish.
