Produced by Celler Comalats in DO Costers del Segre, Comalats Esparver is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Syrah. Both come from organically and biodynamically farmed vines grown in clayey-limestone soils at an altitude over 700 metres, in the town of L'Ametlla de Segarra.
The grapes were picked by hand. Then this Spanish red wine was vinified in the following manner. Before alcoholic fermentation, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes where macerated for 3 days in stainless steel tanks, a process the Syrah grapes did not go through. Both varieties were then spontaneously fermented. Comalats Esparver 2019 did not see any oak after that, and it was bottled with no filtration or clarification whatsoever.
Pleasant and well-balanced, this organic red wine will pair excellently with many kinds of food.
The red wine Comalats Esparver is medium ruby with a reddish hue.
This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah has a clean, lively nose. All sorts of wild berries, with hints of spices, flowers and a note of underbrush.
Succulent red fruit and a pinch of blackcurrants and black olives, enlivened by an excellent acidity and some smooth tannins. This wine of Celler Comalats has a medium-long finish with a remembrance of berries and flowers.
