Product Description
Details

The venerable Cune Imperial Reserva is an all-time classic from DOCa Rioja which showcases the glory of the region's traditional winemaking methods.

Produced by the prestigious Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España-CVNE, this Spanish red wine is made basically from Tempranillo (85%), complemented with Graciano, Mazuela and Grenache, all of them coming from the best parcels of the winery.

Harvested at an optimal ripening state, once in the cellar the grapes were first cold-macerated for 24 hours and then fermented in wooden vats of different sizes.

After going through malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks and wooden vats, this red wine from La Rioja was aged for 24 months in French and American oak barrels.

Gently clarified with egg whites, Cune Imperial Reserva 2018 was kept for a further 24 months in the bottle before being released onto the market.

Decant this Reserva red wine 1 hour before drinking.

Appearance

The wine Cune Imperial Reserva is medium ruby with some reddish tinges and a brick red rim.

Nose

After letting the wine breathe, this blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, Grenache and Mazuela suggests some deep notes of menthol, balsam, tobacco and fine leather. Black and red fruit slowly appear, with delicately oaky touches and hints of liquorice, dry leaves and wet undergrowth.

Palate

Medium bodied, this red wine from CVNE Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España is suprisingly fresh and fruit-forward, with cranberries, blackberries, vanilla and some hints of liquorice and cocoa. Tannins are ripe and velvety, and acidity is vibrant and crisp. Long finish with notes of ripe red fruit. Supple and well-balanced.

Our personal opinion

The traditional Cune Imperial Reserva 2018 is a good wine for a formal dinner. Timeless elegance.
