Details

Produced by the family winery Àlvarez Duran, the wine Dual Blanc Alvarez Duran - previously known as Terroir X de Llicorella Blanco - is a scarce and highly characteristic white wine from Priorat.

Made basically from Viognier and White Grenache, complemented with some Macabeo and Moscatel (Muscat), the grapes were sourced from vines around 80 years of age, planted on steep slate slopes at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level. This kind of soil, typical from Priorat, imparts a deeply mineral character to this Spanish white wine.

Each variety was individually harvested and separately vinified in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. After that, this small-batch white wine was transferred into French oak barrels and aged for 6 months.

Finally, the white wine Dual Blanc Alvarez Duran 2022 was blended and aged for some months in the bottle before being released onto the market.

Pair this Crianza white wine with white meat recipes, fish dishes, soft and medium-hard cheeses and braised vegetables.

Aerate some time before drinking.

Appearance

The white wine Dual Blanc Alvarez Duran is medium yellow with some amber tinges.

Nose

As one might expect from a blend of Viognier, White Grenache, Macabeo and Moscatel, the nose is impressively complex and nuanced. Lime, passion fruit and lemon zest, with notes of smoke, toast and charcoal, and a hint of aromatic herbs, fennel and white flowers.

Palate

This white wine from bodega Àlvarez Duran shows good definition, excellent balance and an exciting Priorat tipicity, which kind of combines features of Mosel and Southern Rhône whites. Fruit-driven, tangy and spicy, with a great acidity and a long finish with a mineral and smoky aftertaste.

Our personal opinion

One of the best white values from Priorat, the white wine Dual Blanc Alvarez Duran 2022 should evolve nicely in the bottle.

Souhtern-Rhoneish in character with a dark mineral edge. Very nice.
