Product Description
Details

This classic Spanish red wine from La Rioja is produced by the R. López de Heredia- Viña Tondonia winery. The 2011 vintage was considered "Excellent" by the Rioja Regulatory Board.

As usual, the wine Viña Bosconia Reserva is made basically from Tempranillo and Grenache, complemented with a small percentage of Graciano and Mazuela, all coming from estate vineyards.

After a meticulous harvest, the wine was traditionally vinified and aged for 5 years in barrels with two manual rackings.

Then Viña Bosconia Reserva 2012 was clarified with fresh egg whites, bottled, and aged in the cellar for a further 5 years before its release.

We suggest that you gently decant this Reserva red wine a minimum of 30 minutes before drinking.

Like all López de Heredia wines, this red wine from La Rioja has a remarkable ageing potential.

Additional Information
Appearance

The red wine Viña Bosconia reserva is medium ruby with some tile-coloured edges.

Nose

Exquisite ripe red fruit, accompanied by floral notes, lavender and withered leaves. After a while, this blend of Tempranillo, Grenache, Graciano and Mazuela suggests many spicy aromas (vanilla, cinnamon clove) alongside leather, coffee, and tobacco over a deep balsamic background.

Palate

This wine from bodega R. López de Heredia - Viña Tondonia is, as usual, the most structured of the company product range. Flavours of wild berries, with some earthy suggestions, well-integrated notes of oak and balsam and some sinewy tannins. Acidity keeps everything in its place, and the finish is very long.

Our personal opinion

Flavorful and seductive, Viña Bosconia Reserva 2012 pairs excellently with meat dishes and aged cheeses.

Still young, with a surprising vivacity. Already delicious, it will probably peak in 3-4 years.
