Bodega Davide

Bodega Davide

A family winery from Rías Baixas with over 100 years of history.

Founded in 1902 by the great-great grandfather of the current owners, Bodega Davide is a fine example of family continuity in the world of wine. Since its very inception, and during its 100-plus years of history, this Galician winery has been committed to quality.

In 2003, the Davide winery started a new chapter, building a modern facility on top of the old family house and redefining its overall approach to viticulture and winemaking. The rethinking process resulted in a set of practices labelled as “reflective viticulture”, which is based on principles of environmental sustainability and low intervention.

Situated in Val do Salnés, a subzone of DO Rías Baixas, the Davide vineyards have poor soils composed of sand and loam and peppered with marine fossils. The area has a maritime climate, strongly influenced by the Arousa river and by its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The winery grows the typical white varieties of the area. Albariño is the dominant one, followed by the increasingly prestigious Godello. As for vineyard management, it is aimed at capturing the particular expression of each parcel of vines.

The head winemaker of Bodega Davide is Mr. Pablo Estévez, who was chosen Spain's "Best Young Wines Winemaker" in 2019. With the exception of the high-end Perfeccionista Finca Ofelia, which is fermented and aged in French oak barrels, all of the wines of Bodega Davide are vinified with its lees in stainless steel tanks. Produced in small quantities, they are kept for 2 months minimum in the cellar before hitting the market.
