Celler Laurona

Celler Laurona

From the hands of René Barbier and Fernando Zamora, the Celler Laurona winery is crafting wines in the center of Montsant D.O. of Spain that are very well-representative of their terroir.

The Celler Laurona winery of Montsant, Spain, is owned and operated by two world-renowned enologists, René Barbier (who also owns the Clos Mogador winery) and Fernando Zamora.

This winery was founded in Falset, in the heart of the Montsant D.O. to craft wines with a strong Mediterranean character from the native Grenache and Carignan grape varietals. In addition, this winery also crafts wines from Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This winery has vineyards that are spread out between the municipalities of Falset, Darmós, and Masroig inside of Montsant. The Celler Laurona winery is especially well-known for its crianza aged red wines that are very faithful expressions of the Montsant terroir and tradition.

The red wines by the Celler Laurona winery of Montsant are well-structured and easy to drink. They have expressive aromatics that are fresh and fruity with nuanced complexities. The white wine, Blanc de Laurona, is a single varietal Grenache Noir that has been crafted from a Blanc de Noirs style of vinification. This is a silky white wine that is full-bodied with clear nuances. This is a rare Spanish white wine and only 1,000 bottles of Blanc de Laurona were ever released into the market.
