Product Description
Details

The top shelf bottling of the Beronia winery, the wine Beronia Gran Reserva is sourced from estate vineyards located in La Rioja Alta.

Virtually a varietal Tempranillo, this Spanish red wine from La Rioja is nuanced by a 3% Graciano.

The grapes were picked by hand throughout October. Once in the cellar, they completed both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

After that, this red wine from La Rioja was transferred into French oak barrels, where it was aged for 27 months. During that period, this wine from La Rioja Alta was racked every 6 months.

Finally, the wine Beronia Gran Reserva 2016 was aged for 36 months in the bottle before its commercial release.

We suggest that you aerate this Gran Reserva red wine 1 hour before drinking.

Pair with hearty meat recipes and cured cheeses.

Appearance

Clean and bright, the wine Beronia Gran Reserva is deep ruby with a garnet rim.

Nose

As one might expect from a Rioja Gran Reserva the tertiary notes - leather, old wood, tobacco - define the nose. As this blend of Tempranillo and Graciano opens, the black fruit thrives, nuanced by spices and dry fruit, with a balsamic note in the background.

Palate

Intense, savoury and smoothened by the years, this wine from Bodega Beronia shows an effortless confidence and a rich array of flavours. Chocolate, liquorice and spices, with a hint of aromatic herbs and a remembrance of flowers. Nice acidity, genteel tannins and long finish with remebrances of cocoa, tobacco and fine leather.

Our personal opinion

Fresher than ever, the wine Beronia Gran Reserva 2016 is excellent with red meat, Ibérico ham, cured cheeses or stews.

Succulent Rioja, marvelously indifferent to Mondovino's schizophrenic trends.
