Details

Produced by the Bodegas BorsaoBorsao Berola comes from DO Campo de Borja, Aragón. The name "Berola", by the way, is an hommage to the Cister Monks who founded the Monastery of Veruela, the cradle of the Campo de Borja wine producing area.

This juicy Spanish red wine is made from a blend of Grenache and Syrah coming from vineyards located at an altitude of 600 to 700 metres above sea level and grown in clay-limestone soils.

The Grenache vines are 35 to 60 years old, while the younger Syrah vines are around 10 years old.

Vinified separately, before alcoholic fermentation each variety was cold-soaked in stainless steel tanks to extract colour and aromas.

The alcoholic fermentation of this Crianza red wine was carried out under controlled temperature. After that, Borsao Berola 2018 was aged for 14 months in American and French oak barrels.

Aerate this red wine from Campo de Borja 30 minutes before drinking.

Appearance

The wine Borsao Berolais medium purple with a violet rim.

Nose

Elegantly complex, this blend of Grenache and Syrah carries loads of ripe black fruit, with notes of liquorice, cocoa, undergrowth and also some balsamic and toasty hints.

Palate

Intense and delicately warm, this wine of Bodegas Borsao has a smooth passage through the palate. Notes of black currants, menthol, dry earth and spices. A gentle and smooth red wine from Aragón, with silky tannins and a well-balanced acidity. Fruity and toasty aftertaste.

Our personal opinion

From Campo de Borja, Borsao Berola 2018 shows a good balance between oak, fruit and alcohol. An excellent value indeed.

Delicious
Value
One of Borsao's best values. Good weight and depth, with some tannic grip and nice structure.
