Availability: In stock
A characterful, bold Spanish red wine from DOQ Priorat, the wine Buxus de les Aubagues is a produced by Xavi Pallejà Viticultor from a single parcel of vines, Finca de Les Aubagues, composed of llicorella (slate) soils and situated in Bellmunt del Priorat.
This blended red wine from Priorat is made from Carignan, coming from over 60-year-old vineyards, and Grenache, sourced from 20-year-old vineyards.
Traditionally vinified, the hand-picked grapes were sorted and then fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.
After that, the red wine Buxus de les Aubagues 2021 was transferred into big vats and new oak barrels, where it was aged for 12 months. Finally, it was blended, bottled and aged for a further months before hitting the market.
This complex Crianza red wine will pair excellently with hearty meat recipes.
It is important to decant the wine at least 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Buxus de les Aubagues is deep ruby with a reddish tinge. |

Nose | This blend of Carignan and Grenache kind of updates and upgrades the traditional Priorat style, with deep mineral notes, fully ripened fruit and a sense of noble rusticity. There are some spicy and smokey notes, with a hint of Mediterranean herbs and a note of cocoa and pepper. |
Palate | Still in the developing stage, this wine from Xavi Pallejà Viticultor is concentrated, ripe and deep, with intense notes of scrubland, spices and wild berries, and a peppery and earthy note. Acidity is very good, with ripe tannins and a very long mineral finish. |
Our personal opinion | The small-batch wine Buxus de les Aubagues 2021 will appeal the lovers of, say, Toro wines, Ribera del Duero reds or Napa Cabs. |
