Details
The rare and famed wine Contino Viña del Olivo is a high-end Spanish red wine made from grapes coming exclusively from Viña El Olivo, a non-irrigated, south-oriented vineyard composed of clay-limestone soils
Produced by Viñedos del Contino, the 2021 vintage is made from a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuela (Carignan).
First, the grapes were destemmed and fermented in 100 hl French oak vats at a temperature between 28 and 30ºC for 10 days. Then this Reserva red wine from La Rioja was drawn-off and transferred into French and American oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation.
After that, the wine Contino Viña del Olivo 2021 was aged for 14 months in the barrels, and for a further 2 months in wooden vats. It was bottled in July 2023.
We suggest that you decant this red wine from La Rioja 1 hour before drinking.
This vegan wine should evolve nicely over the next years.

olivo
How come that they release this so early? I'd have preferred to buy it after 5 years in the bottle. Anyway, it is still a great wine, perfect to store for 10-15 years in a good home cellar.
