Product Description
Details

It is always a privilege to present the new vintage of Clos Martinet. Produced by Mas Martinet Viticultors, this Spanish red wine was one of the five original "Clos" wines that initiated the Priorat renaissance roughly three decades ago.

This wine was originally conceived by Josep Lluís Pérez, one of the pioneers of the Priorat Renaissance and the founder of a wine dinasty that today continues with his daughter, the amazingly talented Sara Pérez.

A blend of Grenache, SyrahCarignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the grapes were sourced from 7 hectares of organically grown vineyards with slate soils located near Falset.

Meticulously harvested, the grapes were brought to the cellar in little boxes and vinified in concrete vats. Afterwards, Clos Martinet 2020 was aged, first in concrete diposits, and then in oak vats and French oak barrels from Allier. Finally, it was further aged in glass demijohns and clay vessels.

A world-class wine, this organic red wine will improve considerably in the bottle. Decant this Crianza red wine at least 2 hours before drinking.

40,000 bottles produced.

Appearance

The red wine Clos Martinet is medium purple with a violet hue at the rim.

Nose

Intoxicating aromas of ripe red and black fruit, along with a prominent minerality, some watery and earthy notes, and hints of luxurious spices such as Jamaica pepper, Ras-el-hanout blend and cardamom. Kaleidoscopic, the nose of this blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot also displays touches of fennel, garrigue, Mediterranean forest, blue flowers and, again, a dazzling "black" minerality. Simply beautiful.

Palate

This wine from Mas Martinet is crisp, balanced and lighter than one might expect. Wild berries with hints of flowers and herbs, all combined with an outstanding freshness. Full of nuance and subtlety, and definitely not a fruit bomb. There is a clear evolution in style, as a result of which the wine now feels fresher than ever, without lacking its Priorat character.

Our personal opinion

Harmonious and super fresh, Clos Martinet 2020 is a desert island wine.

Fabulously complex. The nose is spine-tingling. The palate, to die for.

One of the big stars of the new Priorat, and justifiably so. This is a world-class wine, with the precision of a Californian wine, the elegance of a Bordeaux and the depth of a... Priorat.
