Details

Uniquely characteristic - one could even call it "radical" - the wine Clos Lentiscus Perill Blanc is produced in the Garraf mountain range, a subzone of DO Penedès with a distinctively mineral terroir.

A varietal Xarel·lo, this Spanish white wine from bodega Can Ramon Viticultors del Montgròs is sourced from vines planted in 1938 in soils composed of limestone and "sauló" - the local name for granitic sand.

After a meticulous harvest, the grapes were fermented in 300-litre clay amphorae. Next, this biodynamic white wine was aged in those same containers for 6 months with periodic stirrings of the lees.

Before being bottled, the white wine Clos Lentiscus Perill Blanc 2021 was gently filtered.

Untamed and refreshingly raw, it is advisable to decant this white wine from Massís del Garraf some time before drinking.

Appearance

The white wine Clos Lentiscus Perill Blanc is medium yellow with some greyish glints.

Nose

This old-vines Xarel·lo opens a bit tight, so it is important to aerate it. Notes of fennel, rosemary, citrus, lime, dried herbs, mint, flowers, remembrances of dry earth and dry fruit, and some remembrances of red clay.

Palate

Tense and focused, this biodynamic white wine from bodega Can Ramon Viticultors del Montgròs conveys a real sense of terroir. Green apples, citrus peel, camomile, Mediterranean garrigue and some earthy remembrances. Exceptional acidity, deep minerality, and a long, complex finish.

Our personal opinion

Refreshingly wild, the wine Clos Lentiscus Perill Blanc 2021 is a mineral Xarel·lo that will charm adventurous drinkers.

Yes, this is a wine for adventurers. Wild, sort of raw, incredibly alive, made along the lines of the so-called "natural wines". While drinking it, I had the feeling that my palate had been asleep for a very long time and that this wine was reawakening it.
