Details
This is the new vintage of the wine Edetària Selecció Blanc, a remarkable and insufficiently known Spanish white wine produced by the Edetària winery in the southwestern Catalan region of Terra Alta.
In our judgement, the best vintages of this organic white wine stand comparison with some of southern Rhône's most appreciated white wines.
A varietal White Grenache, the wine Edetària Selecció Blanc 2021 is sourced from over 60-year-old vines grown in a particular kind of soil made of fossilized dunes, called panal, which bring a distinctive minerality and finesse to the wine.
Harvested by hand and selected in the vineyard, this white wine from Terra Alta was carefully vinified and then aged in new 500-litre French oak barrels for 8 months.
Aerate this Crianza white wine some time before drinking. This should evolve nicely in the bottle.

| Palate | Well-balanced, detailed and quite confident, this white wine of bodega Edetària has a juvenile exuberance that needs some years to settle down. Mineral and smokey, the fruit is sustained by an excellent acidity, underscored by a delicately bitter and balsamic note. |

For my money, this is one of Catalonia's best whites. It usually peaks at 6-8 years of age.
