Red Wine Figuerals Garnatxa 2017
Availability: In stock
Produced by Josep Grau Viticultor, Figuerals Garnatxa is a varietal Grenache wine from DO Montsant.
Sourced from low-yielding, organically farmed vineyards with limestone soils planted with vines around 40 years of age, this Spanish red wine is part of a collection of 5 single-vineyard wines which showcases the characteristics of different terroirs situated in Serra d'Almos, in the southern area of Montsant.
The grapes were selected three times before undergoing alcoholic fermentation. After that, Figuerals Garnatxa 2017 was aged in a 2,000-litre Stockinger Austrian oak vat for 14 months.
This varietal red wine from Montsant was not aged or clarified before its bottling.
It is important to decant this Crianza red wine at least 40 minutes before drinking.
Very limited production.
Appearance | The red wine Figuerals Garnatxa is medium ruby with some violet glints. |
---|---|
Nose | This varietal Grenache wine is lively and also quite subtle. Pure, pristine aromas of violets, aromatic herbs, redcurrants and cranberries, underscored by an enticing mineral and balsamic background. |
Palate | As is always the case with Josep Grau Viticultor, the palate is defined by its finesse and precision. Crisp, mouthwatering acidity, with intense balsamic notions - resin, pine needles and menthol -, juicy red fruit, subtle mineral notions, streamlined tannins and a long, uplifting finish. |
Our personal opinion | A true terroir-oriented, like its sibling Figuerals Samsó, Figuerals Garnatxa 2017 proves that Montsant some is home to some of Spain's best Grenache vineyards. |
