Details

We are proud to present the 2009 vintage of the sparkling wine Gramona Enoteca Brut Nature. Produced by the Gramona winery, it is by no means an exaggeration to claim that this Spanish sparkling wine is on a par with the most legendary Champagnes.

A blend of 65% Xarel·lo and 35% Macabeo, the grapes come from the Font de Jui estate, a 22,5-hectare vineyard with clay and limestone soils that bring a wonderfully mineral, edgy finesse to this organic sparkling wine. The farming operations follow strict organic and biodynamic principles.

Meticulously harvested and vinified in a traditional manner, after a gentle pressing the wine musts were fermented in tanks. Then this Corpinnat brut nature sparkling wine was blended and bottled, after which it completed secondary fermentation and was aged for over 140+ months in the cellar. Clarification and disgorgement were performed manually. The disgorging date is printed on the back label.

As we have already said, but it is worth repeating, the wine Gramona Enoteca Brut Nature 2009 belongs in the list of the world's top sparklers.

Appearance

The sparkling wine Gramona Enoteca Brut Nature is medium straw with some steely tinges and amber iridescences.

Nose

The elegance and complexity of this blend of Xarel·lo and Macabeo is simply astonishing. Ripe fruit-apples, pears, pineapple, apricot... you name it-, alongside a bouquet of flowers and some menthol, dry fruit, aromatic herbs and hints of pastry and toffee. We also perceive a mineral background with some salty and iodized notes.

Palate

The palate of Enoteca Brut Nature combines an elegance which up to know seemed only great Champagnes could attain, with a degree of focus and precision - otherwise typical of the Gramona sparklers - which leaves one in awe. Bubbles are integrated to the point of being almost unnoticeable. The freshness and the acidity are superb, as it is the persistence. Having said that, the most interesting thing is that this complexity goes along with the feeling that this Corpinnat sparkler is quite young, and that it still has room for growth.

Our personal opinion

The exceptional sparkling wine Gramona Enoteca Brut Nature 2009 is, simply put, a celebration of life.

Fresh as a daisy at age 17. It will probably become a 98-100 wine over the next years.

A friend brought this and the other one, the Brut. I found the Brut Nature edgier, deeper, more demanding. Anyway, it is like choosing between diamonds and platinum.
