This young Spanish red wine is made from two quintessentially Mediterranean grapes, Garnacha Tintorera - or, as it is known outside Spain, Alicante Bouschet-and Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre).
Produced by Bodegas Atalaya in DO Almansa - a hot, dry area in Southeast Spain - the red wine Laya comes from vineyards with limestone soils sitting at altitudes between 700 and 1000 metres above sea level.
Each variety was carefully harvested and separately vinified. This red wine from Almansa was fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.
After that, the red wine Laya 2022 was aged for 6 months in the tanks. This is an unwooded wine.
This blended vegan red wine remains a stunning value year after year.
