Details

Produced by the recently founded Los Insensatos de la Antehojuela, a winery which aims to bring young blood into the all too traditional world of Andalusian wines, Los Insensatos El Lechinar is a varietal Pedro Ximénez wine coming from DO Montilla-Moriles.

This exciting Spanish white wine is sourced exclusively from Pago Benavente Alto, a south-oriented vineyard with clay-loam soils situated in Sierra de Montilla, at 420 metres of altitude.

The hand-harvested grapes were destemmed, crushed and gently pressed in a pneumatic press before being drawn off at a low temperature. After that, this white wine from Montilla-Moriles was fermented under controlled temperature in concrete tinajas (vessels).

Then the white wine Los Insensatos El Lechinar 2021 was aged on lees under the veil of flor for a period of 7 months in the same vessels.

This white wine from Andalusia is versatile and unconventional.

2,222 bottles produced.

Appearance

The white wine Los Insensatos El Lechinar is pale yellow with some greenish reflections.

Nose

Complex and suggestive, this varietal Pedro Ximénez suggests aromas of orchard fruit, freshly cut grass, citrus and hay, with a mineral note and a hint of green olives.

Palate This white wine of Los Insensatos de la Antehojuela  is flavourful and fruit-forward, with a balanced acidity and some salty and umami notes, evolving into citrus and herbs. Long, yummy finish.

Our personal opinion

Daring and delicious, Los Insensatos El Lechinar 2021 is an invitation to rediscover the Montilla-Moriles region.

Exciting new wave Pedro ximenes, tangy and zippy with a raw, almost natural wine-like twist. I just LOVE this!!
