Product Description
Details

Lustau Palo Cortado Península is a premium Sherry entirely crafted from Palomino Fino by the over-100-year-old Emilio Lustau winery.

This Jerez-Xérèz-Sherry has the aroma of an Amontillado and the body of an Oloroso.

This is precisely the combination that defines a Palo Cortado, probably the most esoteric and misterious type of wine produced in the Jerez region.

A Palo Cortado is born when a wine that was initially intended to be a Fino starts to show some exceptional qualities after being aged for a short period of time.

When that happens, the winemaker usually fortifies the wine with wine alcohol and signals that fact drawing two crossed-out lines (palos cortados) on the barrel.

Lustau Península Palo Cortado was crafted following the traditional soleras and criaderas system.

The whole process lasted over 30 years.

Appearance

Very bright, low golden-coloured robe with some amber tinges.

Nose

Lots of things here. Notes of dry fruit, toasted almonds, some salty touches, remembrances of old wood, notions of coffee, spices, vanilla and cocoa, and some iodine nuances.

Palate

Powerful and bold. Toasted hazelnuts, bitter chocolate, arabica coffee, Tahitian vanilla and salty water. Well-balanced acidity and extremely long finish.

Our personal opinion

Lustau Palo Cortado Península is a true jewel. A wine unlike any other.
