Details

Made from 30 to 60-year-old vineyards, Domus Pensi comes from the southern Catalan region of Terra Alta.

Produced by the Altavins winery, this Spanish red wine is made from a blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot.

The vines are grown in poor soils, in an area with very hot summers and cold winters.

Harvested manually, the grapes were macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks for 26 days. After that, Domus Pensi 2017 was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Finally, was further aged for 24 months in the bottle.

Decant this reserva red wine 30 to 45 minutes before drinking.

Appearance

The wine Domus Pensi is medium purple with some violet tinges.

Nose

This blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah is complex and quite deep. Ripe black fruit, jammy red fruit -notably amarena cherries- nuanced by notes of spices and menthol. There is a background of smoke, dry earth and underbrush.

Palate

Well-balanced and lively, with potential for growth, this wine of the Altavins winery carries flavours of liquor-infused fruit, licorice, clove, cocoa, tobacco and aromatic herbs. Crisp, refreshing acidity, ripe tannins and long finish with some toasted and mineral remembrances.

Our personal opinion Deep and hugely enjoyable, Domus Pensi 2017 proves the great potential of Terra Alta.
