Product Description

A fortified Spanish sweet wine produced in the Andalusian region of Montilla-Moriles, Don PX Gran Reserva is a single varietal Pedro Ximénez.

It was made from grapes that were naturally sun-dried prior to being fermented. After that, this sweet wine from Montilla-Moriles was aged following the traditional oxidative ageing technique, known in Spanish as "soleras y criaderas", for a staggering 30 years prior to its bottling.

The exceptional Don PX 1990 Gran Reserva is crafted by the Toro Albalá winery, arguably the most renowned producer of sweet wines in Córdoba.

Additional Information
Additional Information

This sweet wine has a very dense, bright, clean, high chocolate-coloured robe. Don PX 1990 Gran Reserva has a deep iodine rim.

Very complex this Gran Reserva from Toro Albalá carries some aromas of coffee, bitter chocolate, liquorice, tobacco and sweet spices. On the background, notions of aromatic herbs, fruit compote and a subtle note of black olives.

Powerful, sweet and venerable. Don PX made from Pedro Ximénez is velvety bodied and round, with a very good acidity, a marvelous texture and an endless finish with remembrances of prunes, cocoa, spices, tobacco, figs, aromatic herbs and dry fruit.

Our personal opinion

The sweet wine Don PX 1990 Gran Reserva is exactly what has sometimes been described, quite aptly in our opinion, as a "meditation wine".

If you like Cuban cigars, there are few pairings more enjoyable. Also great with dark chocolate and as a meditation wine sitting by the fireplace.
