Details

Produced by the Finca La Emperatriz winery from Rioja, El Jardín de la Emperatriz belongs to the collection "Vinos de Cupaje clásico".

Virtually a varietal Tempranillo (90%), this Spanish red wine is complemented by tiny amounts of GrenacheGraciano, Viura and Maturana

The grapes come from low-yielding, 15 to 65-year-old vineyards scattered across 11 plots.

As for the 2017 vintage, overall production was 35% below average due to winter frosts.

Harvested by hand, once in the cellar the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with gentle pump-overs, using an equal combination of selected and indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation took place into steel and concrete diposits, after which this Rioja red wine was kept in contact with its lees for some weeks.

Finally, El Jardín de la Emperatriz 2017 was aged for 12 months in 225-litre 70% American and 30% French oak barrels.

Pair this Crianza red wine with stews, casseroles and meat dishes.

A classic Rioja with a livelier, more fruit-oriented character. All of its components are perfectly balanced. Delicious.
