Produced in the southeastern Spanish region of Jumilla, El Nido is the result of the joint venture between Juan Gil and the talented Australian winemaker Chris Ringland, famed for its wines from Barossa Valley.
This high-end Spanish red wine is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon coming from 40 to 50-year-old vines, and 30% Monastrell, coming from almost centenary vineyards.
Harvested manually and brought to the cellar in little boxes, alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 25ºC.
After that, El Nido 2021 was transferred into new French and American oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 24 months.
This wine has a tremendous intensity and complexity, so we recommend that you decant this red wine from Jumilla at least 2 hours before you drink it.
The production of this Crianza red wine is very scarce.
This is one of Spain's most sought-after wines.

Phenomenal wine
I've tasted fine wines from all over the world, and I've never had anything so memorable as the 2003 Bodegas El Nido that I tried 3 years ago. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvedre had a perfect nose, body and finish that compelled me to have "one more taste" until the bottle was gone. To this day, it is still the most memorable wine I've ever tasted. I have tried to find more of that vintage, but no luck. But at least I have a wonderful memory of that experience.

A beauty!
In 2009, my wife and I were introduced to a bottle of El Nido by a friend of us, who lives in Abarán, Murcia Spain, where she lives in a house that she had named 'El Nido' (The Nest).
We have stayed there for a visit since 1989 and still do, the last time in October 2021.
As I play a little guitar, I wrote an instrumental there in 2003, that was recorded in 2004, that I had named 'El Nido'... It's on YouTube, and if you want to have a listen, here's the link:

Later I found out that there was a bottle of wine named 'El Nido', and I had told her about that. A year later, during a visit, she suddenly showed up with a bottle, and we shared a great tasting wine.
It was, and still is, the best wine that I ever drank, and I will remember that moment for ever!
In 2017, when I became 70, I received a bottle for my birthday. We drank it, and for me it's still my number 1 all time wine!
Oh yeah, I do recommend it very much...

phantastic wine
Monumental wine. I know for experience that this need at least 10 years to start unfurling. Anyhow, definitely worth buying.
