Availability: In stock
This biodynamic Spanish white wine is produced in the southern Catalonian region of Conca de Barberà from 15 to 20-year-old vines planted in clay-limestone soils.
Crafted by the Escoda-Sanahuja winery, one of the pioneers of Catalonia's vibrant natural wine scene, Els Bassotets is a blend of 70% Macabeo and 30% Chenin.
Meticulously harvested and vinified, the organically grown grapes were fermented in concrete vats using only indigenous yeasts.
After that, Els Bassotets 2019 was aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, this natural wine was neither filtered nor clarified.
Because of its nicely untamed character, this low sulfite wine greatly acknowledges aeration.
Decant this white wine from Conca de Barberà 30 minutes before drinking.
Appearance | The white wine Els Bassotets has a pale golden colour with some greenish tinges. |
---|---|
Nose | Tight and closed at the beginning, this blend of Macabeo and Chenin slowly opens to notes of ripe white fruit, citrus, peaches, white flowers, evolving into hints of dry fruit, toast, baked bread and fresh yeasts. |
Palate | Pleasant, fruity and excitingly wild. This natural white wine by the Escoda-Sanahuja winery has an uplifting character and a great acidity. Complex notes of ripe white fruit, underbush, flowers and yeasts. Long, savoury finish. |
Our personal opinion | Uncompromisingly original Els Bassotets 2019 drinks great without food, and also pairs excellently with pasta, rice and fish recipes. |
