Product Description

Crafted by the Mas Alta winery, Els Pics is a Spanish red wine from Priorat which shows the most accessible side of this prestigious Catalan wine region.

This red wine is made from a blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Carignan, 10% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, coming from vines planted on slate and clayey-limestone soils.

Handpicked and carefully selected, the grapes were macerated and fermented in concrete tanks. Then this red wine from Priorat was aged for 12 months, the first 6 in the tanks, and the other 6 in French oak barrels 1, 2, 3 & 4 years of age.

Drink Els Pics 2017 from Priorat through 2024.

Decant 30 minutes before drinking.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The red wine Els Pics has a clean, bright, dark cherry colour with a violet rim.

Produced by the Mas Alta winery, this Crianza red wine is very idiomatic. Aromas of red fruit, spices, toast and a dash of violets. On the background, a pulsating mineral remembrance.

Remarkable balance between the fruit and the wooden notes. Produced in the town of La Vilella Alta, this wine is gulpable and yummy, with a well-crafted acidity and crunchy tannins. Bold and substantial, the mineral nuances are extremely seductive. Long, persistent finish.

Our personal opinion

Easy-to-drink, honest and powerful. Els Pics 2017 pairs wonderfully with slow cooked stews and casseroles.

The entry-level wine of Mas Alta is a real Priorat, bold and intense, and it has a very reasonable price. With this wine you have an honest introduction to the region, and you get acquainted with the famous Priorat minerality. A personal favourite.
