Product Description
Details

The entry-level product of the Mas Alta winery, the wine Els Pics showcases the most approachable side of the prestigious Priorat wine region.

This blended Spanish white wine is made mostly from Grenache and Carignan, complemented with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all coming from vines planted on slate and clayey-limestone soils.

Handpicked and carefully selected, the grapes were macerated and fermented in concrete tanks. Then the red wine Els Pics 2021 was aged for 12 months, the first 6 in the tanks, and the other 6 in new and 2nd year French oak barrels.

Aerate this Priorat red wine 30 minutes before drinking.

Pair this Crianza red wine with meat recipes.

Appearance

The red wine Els Pics is medium purple with a violet rim.

Nose

This blend of Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon is very idiomatic. Aromas of red fruit, spices, toast and a dash of underbrush. In the background, a pulsating mineral remembrance.

Palate

Nice balance between the fruit and the wooden notes. This wine from Bodegas Mas Alta is gulpable and yummy, with a well-crafted acidity and crunchy tannins. Bold and substantial, the mineral nuances are extremely seductive. Long, persistent finish.

Our personal opinion

The red wine Els Pics 2021 is flavourful, honest and inviting.

The entry-level wine of Mas Alta is a real Priorat, bold and intense, and it has a very reasonable price. With this wine you have an honest introduction to the region, and you get acquainted with the famous Priorat minerality. A personal favourite.
