Details

Made solely from Merlot, the red wine Enate Merlot Merlot is produced by the Enate winery.

This Spanish red wine from Somontano was the first varietal of the winery, made after the chief winemaker Jesús Artajona decided to launch a line of wines produced from international varieties.

Harvested at their optimal ripening point, the grapes were vinified in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation took place in new French oak barrels, where this red wine from Somontano was also aged for 15 months. Finally, it was aged for some months in the bottle before its commercial release.

Elegant and powerful, we suggest that you decant the red wine Enate Merlot Merlot 2019 to remove any potential sediment.

Pair this Crianza red wine with meat recipes.

The label was designed by the prestigious Catalan artist Frederic Amat.

Appearance

The red wine Enate Merlot Merlot is medium purple with a crimson rim and some violet tinges.

Nose

Focused and precise, this varietal Merlot, with some intense aromas of ripe red fruit, a dash of black fruit, some remembrances of spices and balsam, clear herbal notions and a touch of dry fruit.

Palate

Creamy and well-structured, this red wine of the Enate winery has some mild tannins, a fresh acidity and that inviting, refined character common to all good Merlot wines, from Bordeaux to Napa Valley. Flavours of ripe black fruit, with a dash of chinese ink, leather and withered leaves. Long, spicy finish.

Our personal opinion

Do you remember Miles, the infamous character from the Sideways movie who hated Merlot? Well, had he tasted the red Enate Merlot Merlot 2019 maybe he wouldn't have had such strong feelings about the grape.

I have the impression that this wine is underrated. It ages very well, and improves exceptionally over the years. Not long ago I had a 2005 and it was incredibly good.
