The grapes were sourced from a single vineyard, called "Estrecho de Pipa", located in the highest area of DO Alicante. Planted in extremely poor sandy soils, the low-yielding grapevines are farmed following minimal intervention techniques and environmentally friendly procedures, using no chemicals or synthetic pesticides whatsoever.
After a meticulous harvest, Enrique Mendoza Estrecho Monastrell 2017 was traditionally vinified and aged for 15 months in used French oak barrels.
Decant this Crianza red wine minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
Pair with roast recipes and oily fish dishes.
The red wine Enrique Mendoza Estrecho Monastrell is medium ruby with a garnet rim.
Complex, rich and extremely pure, just as an old-vines Monastrell should be. Blueberries, mulberries and tree bark, nuanced by blue flowers, dim spicy aromas and a symphony of Mediterranean herbs, underpinned by mineral notes and remembrances of dry earth.
This red wine from Enrique Mendoza sort of squares the circle intensity and finesse. It has a marvelous texture, full of detail and intrincacy, a fabulous acidity and some filigree tannins. Overall, the wine feels crisp and loose at the same time. This Alicante red wine has a long finish with a deeply mineral and balsamic aftertaste.
