Product Description

This is the fifth vintage of this Spanish red wine produced by the prestigious Ferrer Bobet winery, co-owned by Sergi Ferrer-Salat and Raül Bobet (who is also the owner and winemaker of the Castell d'Encús winery).

It is made from young vines, 10 to 20 years of age, planted in steep slate slopes on the outskirts of Porrera, Priorat's freshest spot.

Again, Ferrer Bobet is made from a blend dominated by Carignan, and complemented with Syrah and Grenache, plus a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Harvested by hand and meticulously selected, the grapes were selected twice and fermented in 15 and 30 Hl. concrete, stainless steel and wooden vats.

After that, Ferrer Bobet 2017 was aged in 60% new and 40% used French oak barrels, where it was aged for 12 months.

Decant this red wine from Priorat 30 minutes before drinking.

17,618 bottles produced.

Additional Information

The red wine Ferrer Bobet has a bright cherry colour with a violet rim.

This exciting Crianza red wine from Ferrer Bobet shows fresh, enticing aromas of juicy red and black fruit over a deep, dark mineral background, nicely combined with remembrances of liquorice, cocoa, spices, flowers and toast.

This Priorat red wine is fresh and deep. Smooth, inviting body, with a very good acidity, great definition, and some silky tannins. Fruit, earth, underbrush and minerality are combineb in a most graceful manner. This wine from Porrera has a long, nuanced finish.

Our personal opinion

Exquisitely crafted, Ferrer Bobet 2017 is an enormously enjoyable wine. It is less demanding, but by no means less interesting than other wines coming from the same region.

Awfully nice Priorat, conversational and controlled. No mineral savagery here.

This one is a serious contender to the "Priorat's absolute best value title". Multilayered, sculpted with laser-like precision.

This is fascinating. Priorat with an Atlantic character.

This new wine of Ferrer Bobet includes some French grapes in the blend. This fact makes the wine quite approachable to an international palate, while keeping Priorat's trademark earthy, mineral core. This wine is simply great, and I think it will have a great evolution over the next 5-6 years.
