The grapes of this Spanish red wine come from an estate located in the town of Quintanilla de Onésimo, at the heart of the Ribera del Duero DO. Trellis-trained, the grapevines grow in sandy loam soils at an altitude of 710 m. above sea level.
The grapes were picked by hand during the 2nd and 3rd week of October, and went through two selection processes. Destemmed but not crushed, they were subsequently put into stainless steel tanks to complete alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. Then Pruno 2018 was transferred into 2nd and 3rd French oak barrels (Darnajou and Taransaud), were it was aged for 12 months. Finally, it was clarified with egg whites and bottled.
A remarkable value, it is worth remembering that Robert Parker has consistently praised its quality over the years, writing glowing reviews of several vintages, and repeatedly placing this red wine from Ribera del Duero among the absolute best Spanish wines under 20$.
The Spanish red wine Pruno shows a ruby cherry colour with a garnet rim.
Classy notes of ripe black fruit, toffee, dry earth, balsam, fine leather and liquorice. Pruno, a blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon from Ribera del Duero, also suggests some toasted nuances and subtle mineral undertones.
Smooth, full-blown and entrancing, this Crianza red wine produced by the Finca Villacreces winery is full of wild berries, with a touch of Havanna cigars, roasted coffee and Eastern spices, as well as some hints of cedar and some mineral and earthy nuances. This red wine from Ribera del Duero has some delicious tannins and a crisp acidity. Long, complex finish.
