Crianza red wine from Ribera del Duero. Blend of old-vines Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), Grenache, Albillo and other varieties aged for 16 months in new oak barrels.

It is mostly made from very old-vines Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), sourced from Grand Cru level vineyards up to 110 years old, complemented with Grenache, the native white variety Albillo and other varieties indigenous to the region.
Harvested in late September and at the beginning of October, the grapes were vinified with the utmost care using minimal intervention techniques. Alcoholic fermentation of this red wine from Ribera del Duero occurred spontaneously in diposits, and it was followed by a spontaneous malolactic fermentation, this time in new French oak barrels.
After that, the red wine Francisco Barona 2019 was aged for 16 months in the barrels. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered in March 2021.
This premium Crianza red wine should evolve nicely in the bottle.

Wow! This blend of very old-vines Tinto Fino with Grenache and Albillo really delivers. Forest berries, dark cocoa, lilies and liquorice, with a smatter of cinnamon, pepper and clove and some earthy and tobacco remembrances.
Textured, smooth and rather deep, with some peppery and smokey notes, a deep terroir imprint and some chiseled, fine grained tannins. This wine from Francisco Barona carries layers of flavour, with a sensational acidity and an impressive mineral core. Final is long and complex, with the unmistakable balsamic and earthy character of the best Riberas.
