Produced in the DO Montsant, the new vintage of Furvus comes with a significant novelty which makes it even more interesting than before. This Spanish red wine is now virtually a varietal Hairy Grenache (95%), complemented with a just a tiny droplet of Merlot.
The grapes were sorted from the Vinyes Domènech estate, 15 hectares of certified organic vineyards located at an altitude of 525 metres above sea level. Soils are composed of clay and limestone.
After a meticulous selection of the grapes, this Montsant red wine was fermented for a period of 12 days at a controlled temperature. Then Furvus 2018 was aged for 14 months in 1st and 2nd year American and French oak barrels.
We suggest that you decant this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.
The red wine Furvus has an elegant, intense, bright cherry colour with a violet rim.
Original and evocative, this Hairy Grenache with a brushstroke of Merlot begins with an enchantingly Mediterranean note: undergrowth, rosemary, thyme, and garrigue. This organic red wine also suggests some pure aromas red berries, nuanced by some fresh mineral undertones and a subdued spicy note. There is plenty to enjoy here.
Substantial, but not overripe or massive, this Crianza red wine from Vinyes Domènech carries some delicious notes red fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, roasted coffee, balsam and some mineral remembrances. The crisp acidity tightens up the smooth texture. Finish is long, with excellent fruit and an earthy note.
|Our personal opinion||
A textbook example of a wine with a bridled power, Furvus 2018 is one of Montsant's absolute best values.
