Details

A varietal Grenache, Garnatxa EG is a Spanish red wine produced from a single plot of grapevines planted in Mas d'en Corral, a estate in the Montsant river basin, near the village of Gratallops, in the heart of DOQ Priorat.

Produced by Bodega Cesca Vicent, this organic red wine was born in the steep slate and rocky slopes typical of Priorat. Certified organic, the vineyards are farmed following environmentally friendly procedures.

Harvested by hand in mid September, the grapes were first macerated with the skins in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature. After that, they were fermented for a substantial period of time, and racked on a daily basis. Then this red wine from Priorat was transferred into French oak barrels and aged for 12 months. Once the process was completed, the best barrels were selected, and Garnatxa EG 2015 was bottled after a gentle filtration.

Decant a minimum of 30 minutes before drinking.

Only 1,120 bottles produced.

Appearance

The red wine Garnatxa EG of the Cesca Vicent winery has an intense cherry colour with a purple edge.

Nose

As intense as it is fresh, this Grenache from Priorat conveys an exhilarating note of fresh red fruit, framed by some spicy and toasted notes, which evolve into Mediterranean garrigue, a tip of citrus, and some mineral undertones.

Palate

Medium-bodied and fruit-driven, this wine of Cesca Vicent is intensely Mediterranean, with aromatic herbs and the typically mineral Priorat character in the foreground. Savoury notes of strawberries and redcurrants, with yummy tannins and a long finish with a spicy fleck.

Our personal opinion

Enormously pleasurable, Garnatxa EG 2015 is an excellent, terroir-bound Grenache from Priorat.
