White Wine Garoina 2023
White wine from L’Empordà. Varietal Chardonnay vinified in stainless steel tanks.
Availability: In stock
Produced by bodega Oliveda, the wine Garoina (meaning sea urchin in the Catalan language) is an unconventional Spanish white wine. A varietal Chardonnay, it comes from an unlikely place: DO Empordà, northern Catalonia.
The grapes are sourced from sun-drenched vines around 20 years of age, planted in sandy-granite soils near the village of Capmany, in the northernmost part of the designation.
Harvest was carried out at night from late August to the beginning of September. After a gentle pressing, the free-run must was fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. This white wine from Empordà saw no wood after completing the process.
The white wine Garoina 2023 will make a fantastic pairing with seafood dishes.
Appearance | The white wine Garoina is medium straw with some bright reflections. |
---|---|
Nose | This varietal Chardonnay wine carries ripe pineapple, banana and passion fruit, with a citrusy note, a dash of herbs and mineral touch. |
Palate | This wine of the Oliveda winery is savoury, fresh and a tad saline, with a pleasant mid-palate carrying tropical fruit with a gently bitter note, ending with a clean, subtly mineral finish. |
Our personal opinion | The wine Garoina 2023 ticks all the boxes of a summer wine. |
