Product Description
Details

Produced in El Bierzo, this Spanish red wine is crafted from estate-owned and peasant-owned vineyards 40 to 80 years of age.

A varietal MencíaGodelia Tinto is produced from partially terraced hills located at altitudes between 500 and 700 metres above sea level, whose soils have a high mineral content (slate and quartzite).

Each plot was separately harvest and, once in the cellar, cold-macerated, destemmed and vinified in stainless steel tanks for 18 to 22 days. After completing alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, Godelia Tinto 2016 was aged for 12 months in fine-grain French oak barrels.

Aerate this Crianza red wine from Bodegas y Viñedos Godelia some time before drinking.

Appearance

The wine Godelia Tinto has a clean, high cherry-coloured robe with a ruby rim.

Nose

Deep and enticing, this varietal Mencía smells of ripe wild berries, with some creamy and balsamic nuances, aromas of toast and coffee, and an elegant mineral background.

Palate

Well-balanced, smooth and classy, this wine from Bodegas y Viñedos Godelia suggests some spicy and balsamic remembrances, a note of aniseed and fennel, and some dim smokey nuances. Tannins are still slightly rugged but acidity and texture are excellent. The long finish is elegantly dry, with a mineral and earthy note.

Our personal opinion

Due to its crisp acidity and solid structure, Godelia Tinto 2016 will pair excellently with hearty meat dishes.
