The exquisite Gramona Argent is a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. It is produced from grapevines, 25 years old on average, planted in Mas Escorpí, a estate with calcareous and rocky soils located on the foothills of the Montserrat mountains, one of the coolest areas in the Penedès region.
Crafted by the Gramona winery, this Spanish sparkling wine was meticulously harvested and vinified. Once in the cellar, the grapes were gently crushed, after which only a 35% of the wine must was fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
After that, Gramona Argent 2014 completed secondary fermentation in the bottle, and was aged for a minimum of 48 months before its release.
Finally, this Gran Reserva Brut was added shipping liquor coming from an old family "solera."
Clean and bright, Gramona Argent has a golden colour with some steely tinges and greenish glints.
Full of elegance and finesse, this blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Penedès suggests some aromas of citrus, butter, marzipan and white flowers, with hints of sugar coated fruit, dry fruit, and a note of wild berries.
Velvety-bodied, this Cava from Gramona has a enticing passage through the palate, with diminutive bubbles and a crisp, refreshing acidity. Notes of pomelo, orange rind, dry fruit, cream and nougat. Long, delicately bitter finish. Really good.
