Corpinnat Gramona Celler Batlle 2010
Availability: In stock
An outstanding Spanish sparkling wine, one of the best available on the market, Gramona Celler Batlle is made from a blend of 65% Xarel·lo and 35% Macabeo, two native varieties with a great ageing potential.
Located in the Font Jui estate (which bears the Paraje Calificado distinction), the organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards grow in sandy-clay soils. Climate is Mediterranean.
After a manual harvest, the grapes were meticulously selected and pressed whole bunch. Traditionally vinified, this Corpinnat sparkler of the Gramona winery was bottled in order to complete secondary fermentation, and subsequently aged in the cellar for a minimum of 120 months.
Manually disgorged, Gramona Celler Batlle 2010 was finally added shipping liquor coming from a centenary solera, one of the Gramona family's most treasured possessions.
The recipient of several national and international awards, this is the first time this Penedès sparkling wine is marketed under the Corpinnat label.
Appearance | The sparkling wine Gramona Celler Batlle has a very bright, clean straw yellow colour with some golden tinges. |
---|---|
Nose | Extremely complex, this sparkling wine aged for 10 years suggests some rich notes of white fruit and aromatic herbs -laurel, thyme-, nuanced by subtle, endlessly evolving hints of aniseed, white roses, pastry, butter, bread crust, bitter almonds, English custard and toffee. Celler Batlle of the Gramona winery has an impressively elegant nose. |
Palate | Surprisingly young, with some smooth, tiny bubbles, real depth and great acidity. This Corpinnat sparkling wine is truly phenomenal, and it caresses the palate in a most gentle way. Totally controlled and focused, with a remarkable ageing potential. This blend of Xarel·lo & Macabeo has a great finish with remembrances of almonds, pastry, aromatic herbs, citrus and white flowers. |
Our personal opinion | Already a world-class sparkling wine, it is worth noting that Gramona Celler Batlle 2010 hasn't reached its prime yet. |
