Corpinnat Gramona Enoteca Brut 2004
Availability: In stock
The new vintage of this Spanish sparkling wine of Celler Gramona, Gramona Enoteca Brut is made from a traditional blend of 75% Xarel·lo and 25% Macabeo coming from Finca La Plana, a 4-hectare estate with soils composed of clay and sand located in Penedès.
The estate has belonged to the Gramona Family for more than 150 years. Previously, the grapes coming from Finca La Plana were used to produce Gramona III Lustros and Gramona Celler Batlle, the winery's former top sparkling wines.
The 2004 vintage of this Corpinnat sparkling wine was remarkable. Optimal phenolic ripeness and near ideal acid levels paved the way for the creation of a Cava that will certainly grow in the bottle for many years.
After an exacting grape selection and a traditional vinification process, Gramona Enoteca Brut 2004 was aged for no less than 172 months, that is, about 14 years. After that, the wine was manually clarified, disgorged and, prior to its bottling, added a little dosage -"liqueur d'expédition" or "shipping liquor"- to give it roundness and creaminess.
Only 984 bottles produced. Gramona Enoteca Brut is a world-class sparkler.
Appearance | The sparkling wine Gramona Enoteca Brut has a straw yellow colour with steely tinges and a golden-amber hue at the rim. |

Nose | This exquisite Corpinnat sparkling wine has a nose of superior richness. A first layer of apricot, baked apples, greengage plums, honey and royal jelly is followed by entrancing notes of white flowers, toasted almonds, marzipan, toast and even some hints of undergrowth and mushrooms. Finally, this blend of Macabeo and Xarel·lo also displays touches of dry fruit, orange rind and some mineral undertones. The best of all, though, is that all this complexity is perfectly harmonious. |
Palate | The focus, precision and potential for growth of this wine of the Gramona winery is exceptional. The texture is supremely rich and elegant, but at the same time the wine gives the impression of being extremely fresh and young. If one didn't know that this Gran Reserva Brut was aged for 172 months, it would be difficult to guess its age. The bubbles and the liquid are, more than integrated, fused into one single entity. Acidity is phenomenal and finish is never-ending. |
Our personal opinion | A world-class sparkler beyond any doubt, Gramona Enoteca Brut 2004 is an unforgettable wine. |
